Update and Appeal
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of you who have had an involvement with this year’s shoeboxes. You have enabled Carey to beat our previous record of 80 boxes to pack a whopping 102! This has been made possible by certain individuals as follows:
- Those that have catered at the two fund raising events by cooking breakfast baps, baking cakes, producing sandwiches, and serving tea and coffee.
- All of those that attended the breakfast coffee morning and afternoon tea/craft demonstration events to raise funds for the postage of the boxes @ £5 per box.
- The crafty people who shared their crafts with visitors at the afternoon tea/craft demonstration day.
- Those that have kindly purchased and donated items to pack into the boxes.
- Those that have generously given money to fund the purchase of items.
- The individual who organised a donation of 50 quality shoe boxes from Cheaney’s, which has made the wrapping much easier, as they only needed the lids wrapping.
- Those that have provided boxes and wrapping materials.
- The merry band of knitters that have been busy beavering away making hats, scarves, and gloves.
- The box packers who helped pack and label the boxes.
Last week all the boxes were taken to Rockingham Road Baptist Church, who are our local collection hub. The boxes are now on their long journey to a child with very little and we pray that they will be received with a grateful heart that is curious to get to know Jesus if they don’t already know Him. All of this would not be possible without all the above people and so as the shoebox co-ordinators we say a BIG THANK YOU. We have already had donations for next year’s boxes so please do not purchase any rulers or pencil sharpeners as we have the full compliment. We now eagerly await until February to receive feedback, from the barcode tracking, to understand where our boxes were sent.
God Bless.
